Thousands Evacuate as Fire Explodes Near Hasley Canyon

The fast-moving Canyon Fire Ventura erupted Thursday afternoon near Holser Canyon, north of Piru, and has since scorched approximately 4,856 acres as of 6:30 a.m. Friday. Containment remains at 0%, as over 400 firefighters continue to battle the blaze in steep terrain amid sweltering, dry conditions.

By late Thursday night, flames had reached into Los Angeles County, threatening communities such as Val Verde, Hasley Canyon, and Hathaway Ranch. Videos captured fires burning dangerously close to homes and a boat storage facility on Hasley Canyon Road.

Evacuees expressed deep appreciation for the emergency response. One resident said, “I could feel the warmth from here. You don’t appreciate these firemen until you see them in action.” Another evacuee, monitoring from afar via security cameras, shared relief: “Everything’s still there. You can see the firefighters on the front yard—pretty good. But yeah, it’s a huge blessing.”

Despite the fire’s size, no injuries have been reported, though KTLA captured at least one structure burning. Officials have not confirmed the total number of damaged buildings.

Firefighters Race to Contain Blaze as Conditions Worsen

Video captured smoke and flames looming above Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia as thick smoke engulfed the Santa Clarita Valley. Winds and terrain continue to make firefighting difficult. The fire’s proximity to densely populated areas adds urgency to the containment effort.

Authorities urge residents to stay alert, follow official evacuation orders, and avoid returning until areas are cleared. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

As the Canyon Fire Ventura grows near the Ventura-Los Angeles County line, communities remain on high alert. Firefighters are working tirelessly to protect homes and lives, but steep terrain and zero containment signal that this emergency is far from over.
